MythicMay Creatures 5

Fifth batch of drawings from the MythicMay challenge by Audre Schutte that I'm participating. I'm going for a more naturalistic look in my interpretations, trying to think of what kind of creature could inspire the myths and folktales that are told of them.

Wihwin is basically a Central American version of kelpie. A mostly horse-shaped creature with huge fangs who dwells in the sea but hunts humans on land during hot and dry seasons.

Tlazolteol is the Aztec goddess of vices and purification. She would give diseases to people who over-indulge but she would be able to get rid of diseases by eating them. In a lot of her depictions she dons a jaguar skin and feathers so I worked with that

Uchchaihshravas is a seven-headed, pure-white horse from Hindu mythology. It was born from the churning of the milk ocean and is considered the prototype and best (king) of all horses.

Merrow are the mer-people of Ireland, human waist up with the rest being fish. They can shapeshift into land animals and are generally non-hostile towards humankind. Mine's full fish but I guess any vaguely human shaped will do if one's desperate enough.

Owuo is a one-eyed giant with long, white hair and with an interesting story that eventually led to the giant's death. Magic dust was sprinkled into the giant's eye, bringing it to life, but with it came death. Every time the giant blinks a man dies.
